What We Work On

Our Four
Focus Areas

Focus Area 01

🏛 Governance

Strengthening transparency, accountability, and institutional capacity at all levels of government — from ward offices to provincial ministries in Koshi Province.

Our governance work focuses on how local and provincial institutions can make better decisions, communicate more clearly with citizens, and build the kind of trust that makes policy reform possible. We produce evidence-based briefs, facilitate stakeholder dialogue, and support policymakers with data and analysis.

Good governance is the foundation on which everything else Niti works on depends. Without accountable institutions, even the best agricultural or entrepreneurship policy cannot be implemented effectively.

Key Work

  • Evidence-based policy briefs presented to provincial government
  • Multi-stakeholder roundtables for policy dialogue
  • Agricultural and trade data collection across Koshi

Key Work

  • Agro-entrepreneur documentary series (12 films)
  • Farmer training across 3 districts — 100 smallholders, 15% yield target
  • Agriculture and trade data collection and policy research
  • Provincial agriculture policy repository
Focus Area 02

🌾 Agriculture

Transforming Koshi's agricultural sector through research on land rights, market access, climate adaptation, and smallholder livelihoods.

Agriculture is the backbone of Koshi Province's economy. Niti conducts rigorous evidence-based research and advocates for sound agricultural policy that addresses the real barriers farmers face — access to markets, credit, and technical knowledge. We work to make farming a viable, dignified livelihood through data-driven policy recommendations.

We also document and share the stories of successful agricultural entrepreneurs to shift the narrative around farming and inspire the next generation.

Focus Area 03

🏔 Tourism

Unlocking Koshi Province's tourism potential through sustainable policy, community-based models, and infrastructure that benefits local economies.

Koshi Province has extraordinary natural and cultural assets — from the foothills of the Himalayas to rich agricultural landscapes and heritage sites. Yet tourism policy has often failed to ensure that the economic benefits of visitors reach local communities.

Niti advocates for tourism policies that are sustainable, community-centred, and integrated with local economic development strategies. We also maintain a repository of tourism-related policies to support better planning and decision-making.

Key Work

  • Research on community-based tourism models in Koshi
  • Advocacy for sustainable tourism infrastructure policy
  • Provincial tourism policy repository and knowledge hub
  • Local economic linkage mapping — tourism and agriculture

Key Work

  • Contributing entrepreneurship modules to local-level compulsory syllabus
  • Inter-school ideation bootcamps and competitions
  • Launch support for 5 new businesses — BDS + seed grants
  • Focus on agri-startups, women and youth-led ventures
Focus Area 04

💡 Entrepreneurship

Fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem — supporting agri-startups, youth and women-led businesses, and innovative ideas in Koshi Province.

Koshi Province has an emerging generation of entrepreneurs who need a policy environment that enables businesses to start and grow. Niti advocates for a business-friendly environment and provides direct support to startups and businesses — helping them navigate policy, access resources, and scale sustainably.

We work within existing local government educational systems to contribute entrepreneurship content and organise practical learning experiences for young people.
